Overview
Safari. The word itself conjures up images of adventure and romance. Family owned Micato Safaris’ expeditions are luxurious by design, featuring world-class accommodations, legendary game parks, spectacular scenery at every turn, and a richness of wildlife beyond your imagination.
Micato’s mission is to offer the most meaningful, luxurious and personalized safaris available, striving to have your trip exceed your wildest expectations. There is simply no better way to connect with the people, culture and traditions of Africa.
With such dedication, unparalleled personal service and attention to detail, it's easy to see why the Micato Safaris family of companies has garnered so many accolades, including being voted “World’s Best Tour Operator and Safari Outfitter” by readers of Travel+Leisure magazine for the past six years.
Micato Safaris in Kenya was founded in 1966 by Felix and Jane Pinto.
The Pinto family has a long history in Kenya, having settled in Nairobi at the turn of the last century. They have welcomed tens of thousands of visitors to Africa. Travel+Leisure wrote that Felix and Jane treat Micato guests like “well-loved, out-of-town relatives.” All Micato guests traveling through Nairobi are invited to cocktails and dinner with the Pintos at their home.
Micato operates safaris in Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and South Africa as well as India, Nepal Bhutan and Sri Lanka. They can arrange extensions to the Seychelles, Maldives, Zanzibar, Mauritius and Lamu.
The entire Micato staff is dedicated to providing guests with a singular experience that no other tour operator or safari outfitter can deliver.
Micato programs are unmatched in their degree of included extras – from exceptional special events and educational enhancements to the myriad little luxuries lavished upon guest throughout the safari. There are far too many to list in this space, but here are a few: - Personalized attention by the Pinto family both stateside and in Africa.
- Only the finest hotels, lodges and tented camps.
- Small intimate travel groups and guaranteed departures.
- Professional Safari Directors, driver guides, game rangers and trackers.
- Personal concierges at your service, 24/7.
- Micato East Africa's own fleet of well-appointed safari vehicles (including binoculars, field guides, soft drinks and water) that seat nine, but carry only six guests.
- All meals included on every program.
- Magnificent bush cocktails at sunset on the plains of the Maasai Mara.
- Bush walks with expert naturalists at first dawn.
- Meals at private homes of prominent locals.
- Sustainable tourism – Micato strives to make all expeditions carbon neutral and works with local peoples in an effort to support those communities.
